Реферат: John Grisham's book ”The Firm”
The Firm is John Grisham's best book by far! This great novel was written by the great American writer, John Grisham, in 1993. It was a bestseller of it time.
The main hero of a book is Mitch McDeere, a poor guy with a Harvard law degree, can't refuse the offer he gets from a small Memphis law firm. A brand new BMW, a house for him and his wife in a nice neighborhood even. Well, as he started working, everything was fine. But there was a small catch... As he went on, he started to realize that his employers were rather curious (strange). Then he began to snoop around and found out about former employees who were "accidentally" killed. As time went on, he realized that his law firm was corrupt. Well, the FBI, who had the firm under surveillance (watch), was trying to help Mitch get them evidence so they could indict this company.
Well, it was rather hard for Mitch since he was caught in a blackmail that his employers held behind him. To make a long story short, Mitch had enough evidence and decided to take it to the FBI. So now the FBI is after his indication and his firm wants him dead. If he leaves his firm...he dies! If he stays there...he dies! Unfortunately, as he was about to take an evidence to the FBI, he was in his office. And a few rooms over, his employers realized what was happening. Mitch received a phone call and was warned that they knew. He took off running. Mitch takes off running, and running, and running, along with his wife Abby and Brother Ray. The ending was fairly surprising…
John Grisham's novel The Firm is a furious page-turner, the kind of book that you don't want to put down once you've started reading it. The main characters are developed in such a way that the reader cares about their destiny.
The Firm was great because the expectation was high. Readers will keep thinking, "Who are these people Mitch is working for?"... well, when you find out, you may be disappointed. It's very obvious and it's the usual enemy John writes about. Very banal, from my point of view. But, even if you are not disappointed, that just adds to a great story. True - you can argue the plot! I recommend this book to any one who likes a good thriller!
